About JCG3 Drafting
I am an Architectural Drafter and Consultant for JCG3 Drafting here in Austin, Texas.
In the Fall of 1999, I graduated from Grambling State University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Drafting and Design Engineering Technology. I have approximately 23 years’ experience working within the construction industry. Since 1993, I have worked with my father in his construction company, J C Johnson Jr Construction. Through this experience, I have been introduced to all aspects of the business such as sales, proposals/bids, surveying, demolition and construction. We specialized in concrete curb and gutters and expanded to asphalt roads and parking lots. Throughout my career, my duties as an AutoCAD drafter have consisted of drawing shop drawings of architectural stone for commercial and residential projects of various sizes, ranging from small, custom individual pieces, to large complexes such as banks and universities. From client plans, I reproduced submittal drawings which were used as a plan to assemble our product. These drawings contained multi-view projections, as well as sections and details of our stone, backup framing, and connection details. To achieve this objective, I maintained written and verbal communication with contractors, architects and masons to aide in the production, delivery, and installation of the product. Additionally, I maintain drafting logs via Excel spreadsheets and create supplemental drawings using Bluebeam Revu as well. As a Project Manager and Estimator, I oversaw each phase of a project, from bid level to delivery and customer service after the sale. Being involved in the bid process has given me a greater understanding of how contractual documents are prepared. |
My experience as both a project manager and estimator has given me the knowledge needed to provide accurate estimates. In addition, I have considerable experience training and supervising entry level drafters. I have also taken on independent projects on a contractual basis, including the production of a full set of plans for a small commercial building, and several custom single-family and multi-family properties. These drawings required specifications, elevations, foundation, electrical, and detail drawings of wall sections and interior elevations per the local city code. |
